Welcome 2008

Many people make resolutions at this time of year and sometimes stick with them, sometimes not so much. If you are one of the many that resolved to "get in shape," remember that it takes determination and a map to know where you are and where you want to go. If you can be specific about what "get in shape" means, you'll likely be more successful. Does it mean losing a certain number of pounds? Does it mean completing a spinning class three times per week? Or does it mean walking for 15 minutes a day and doing some weight training?

If you create a specific map of what it means to "be in shape," then you have the specifics you need to travel. Along with taking care of your body, remember, that being in shape also includes mental, spiritual, and shadow practices that can make the physical practices more effective. On a day you may not have the energy for a spinning class, maybe your energy points you to meditate, read, or quietly listen to music while you journal. All of these practices will help you "get" and "stay in shape" as long as you continue to train, one day at a time.
